Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kigali airport, city tour to Volcanoes National Park
Immediately you arrive at Kigali International Airport, find your driver guide waiting for you. He will brief you on the 4 days Rwanda gorillas & golden monkeys. After, have a quick Kigali city expedition involving a visit to Gisozi genocide site, Richard Kandt museum, Art museum, craft market, etc. Later, go to pay a visit to Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park which is your main destination to explore on this safari package.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking & evening tour in Iby’Iwacu cultural village
A leisurely cup of tea or coffee and after, report to the park offices for briefing on gorilla trekking rules. Volcanoes National Park is comprised of 10 habituated gorilla families and the park official assigns each group of 8 visitors to one gorilla group. The actual search for these humble apes begins at 8:00am and park guide will accompany you.
It will be a long day adventure lasting 2-6 hours and includes one hour with gorillas then you walk back to the lodge to have refreshment. Later, you will experience more about Rwanda’s unique cultures, traditions and dances on a visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village.
Day 3: Golden monkey tracking & relaxation at the shores of Lake Kivu
Have the best your leisurely breakfast and later, connect to Volcanoes park offices to be briefed on golden monkey tracking rules. Hit the rain-forest at 8:00am on a search for golden monkeys. The park guide will provide you with all the essential information about golden monkeys, you observe and also take photos during the 1 hour of close encounter.
Get back to check out of the lodge then drive westwards to Rubavu, in Gisenyi city for sunset relaxation at the shores of the historical Lake Kivu.
Day 4: Boat ride and drive to Kigali
Get up for your leisurely cup of tea or coffee and after, go enjoy a boat ride. This is unforgettable experiences you shouldn’t miss and this package offers you a chance to be part of it.
Enjoy the excellent views of the Mt. Nyiragongo and expect to pay a visit to some of the fishing villages/communities. Lunch will be provided to you, and later you can return to Kigali for departure.
