Only two sectors can easily be accessed from Kigali and these are Nkuringo and Rushaga both located in the southern sector of the park.

Mgahinga national park is also good for mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda located in southwestern Uganda hence having only two habituated gorillas that is Hirwa and Nyakagezi families. The park can be accessed from Kigali through the Cyanika border in Kisoro.

Most of the tourists worry about the best time to trek gorillas in Uganda, but what you need to know is that gorillas can trek all year round but you are advised to trek these endangered species in the dry season when the trails seem to be dry and passable. The dry season is in the months of December-February and June-September. In the rainy seasons, the trails seem to be muddy and difficult to pass through.
